Since 1977, Island Dance Academy has taught East Hawaii children classical ballet, tap and jazz. Students start as young as four and are offered multiple levels of dance in each of these specialties. This Summer we offer classes four days a week from Tuesday through Thursday and on Saturday. More days will be added in the Fall. Tuition gets more affordable with the more classes taken, so be sure to learn it all!
Suen is a UH Hilo graduate in Dance and Education who has danced with the Greater Houston Civic Ballet. She has trained with amazing dancers including Agnes DeMille, Finis Young, Bruce Marks, Ronn Guidi, and Earnest Morgan. She founded Island Dance Academy in 1977. The Academy's performances have included Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Babes in Toyland, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Wizard of Oz as well as annual Nutcracker performances.
Additionally, the semi annual Kaleidoscope of Dance has delighted audiences since 1996.

Services
When we return to the studio in Feb./March, we will be adding more classes so we can limit our enrollment to 10.
Creative Ballet & Tap is a combination class for 4 & 5 year olds, and teaches coordination of dance steps to music, ballet basics, creative dramatics, and dance games.
All other Ballet and Tap classes are for ages 6 and up.
Jazz classes are for ages 8 and up.
Students are placed at a level corresponding to their ability, age and previous experience.
I strongly recommend that all students take ballet also, as it is the basis for all other forms of dance.
