Vienna Dance Academy is a family owned and operated dance school. Richard Cunningham, Lisa Cunningham and Julie Arindaeng, owners of Vienna Dance Academy, have been teaching together for over 40 years. We promote a safe and fun family environment for dance education. It is our goal to assist all students in reaching their goals as dancers. We provide many roads of opportunity for students to explore dance.

Students who wish to become professional dancers have done so under our guidance. Students who dance recreationally do so happily and successfully. Students who wish to train seriously and commit to dance competitively are encouraged to do so. Our unique philosophy in conjunction with our instruction promotes harmony within our school.
Services
Small classes allow every student to get the individual instruction needed to fully enjoy class and grow as a dancer.
We have established a one-of-a-kind environment in which teachers monitor each student's progress.
Our small class philosophy successfully ensures that students continually expand upon their technical knowledge and push themselves beyond their comfort zones with confidence.
Teaching dance has been our family business for three generations.
Our mission is to spread our family's passion for dance in an encouraging, fun, and safe environment.
Richard began his professional career at age 16 after he won as a soloist both the regional and the national Dance Educators of America dance competitions in New York City.
He began teaching at 16 in Dale City, Woodbridge, and Falls Church.
He also taught master classes for Maryland University's dance department.
Richard furthered his training in classes with Gwen Verdon, Charles Kelly, Frank Hatchet, and Gus Giordano.
He then went on to perform in the bicentennial production of "We the People" at Kings Dominion.
Below are the age requirements and descriptions of our classes.
We have two semesters with end-of-semester performances.
The first semester runs from September through December with a uniform performance at the beginning of January.
The second semester runs from January to June with a costumed performance in June.
All students participate in both performances.
We encourage all new students to begin with whatever dance style they are most attracted to and make suggestions for avenues of training as levels of interest increase.
