Dance is one of the best learning experiences that parents provide for their children. Since 1970, thousands of Manhattan-area families have been part of our dance family. We - Sharron Washington and Jennie Washington Stout - are professional dance instructors and co-owners. We carefully balance high standards with warmth, humor and common sense. We have the expertise and education to take your dancer as far as he or she wants to go.

We offer a complete range of dance classes so all students can discover the style of dance that best suits them! Some of our dancers develop such a strong love of the art that they make it their career. For others, dance is one of their favorite recreational pursuits. Our greatest accomplishment is that so many families have made our tradition of excellence in dance education part of their traditions as well.
Services
Class scheduling and class placement is determined annually by our staff to best fit the needs of our students.
All classes meet once a week and are 30 to 60 minutes in length according to skill level.
Our program runs from September to May.
We ask for the eight-month commitment to maximize the dancer's experience and education.
We do not accept new students spring semester as it is an extension of skill and relationship development from the fall.
Our Combo class combines the elements of our Ballet and Jazz class into one, one hour class for 1st and 2nd graders.
It allows for dancers of this age to experience and be exposed to two dance genres with an age appropriate class length and curriculum that includes learning Ballet and Jazz fundamentals in a fun and active instructional setting.
Dancers in this class perform a short Ballet and Jazz dance in our annual Recital.
Tuition is paid per month, semester, or year and remains the same, regardless of the student's attendance or the amount of weeks in each month.
Tuition is due on the first of each month, September through April, and a $20 late fee may be added after the 10th.
In addition to your tuition, there will be a non-refundable $35 registration fee (per family) due when register online and a recital costume fee (per class) due in November.
There will be a $25 fee for each returned check in addition to any other fees.
Washington Dance Studio's annual spring recitals are usually held at McCain Auditorium on the Kansas State University Campus; however, Recital 2021 will be held at the National Guard Armory.
This premier venue provides our dancers a professional performance experience to culminate their dance year with us.
All recitals also feature WDS Senior, Junior, and Core Companies.
Our dancers also experience professional performance preparation with a technical rehearsal on the stage, followed by their dress rehearsal on the stage, and finalized with their actual stage performance.
You may enroll for classes with our online registration system through DanceWorks.
Please note we only have Fall online registration during the school year as our dance year runs September through our annual recitals in May.
Therefore, we do not take new students second semester (except our 3-yr-old Creative Movers), but do welcome new students during our Summer Programs (see below) and in the Fall.
Online payment via credit card is conveniently integrated into the DanceWorks system.
After you register online, your online account will be billed and card charged a non-refundable $35 registration fee per family.
