McDonald Dance Academy offers classes in ballet, jazz, hip hop, musical theater, modern and tap, plus special classes, including Yoga and Pilates. Because a dancer needs a strong foundation, Linda McDonald and her staff, all of whom have degrees in dance or have danced professionally, stress proficient use of dance terminology and an understanding of theory, as well as encouraging participation in workshops and public performances.

As a result, many McDonald Dance Academy students have won scholarships from Chicago National Association of Dance Masters, and performed in both Joffrey Ballet and Schaumburg's productions of the "Nutcracker." Believing it is important for students to be exposed to many different styles of teaching, Linda McDonald invites many guest teachers and choreographers from several prestigious companies in the Chicago area.

The Arlington Dance Ensemble, which is composed of local dancers ranging in ages from 10-18, is associated with McDonald Dance Academy. The purpose of the Ensemble is to provide dancers an opportunity to take what they have learned in the classroom and perform it in the area.
Services
The Arlington Dance Ensemble is our performing group.
The ages range from 10 thru 18.
The purpose of the Ensemble is to give dancers an opportunity to take what they have learned in the classroom and perform in the area.
The Ensemble is composed of well rounded, dedicated young dancers who want to make a commitment to their art.
The Ensemble co-hosts the DFL: Next Generation concert each year to benefit a local charity.
The Ensemble also performs during the year at area retirement homes, local events, and benefits.
All our classes are divided into different levels, which are based on a student's ability.
We believe that it is important for a student to be placed appropriately so they may get the most out of a class.
Placement is done by the instructor.
New students should take our placement class so the instructor may evaluate them properly.
See placement class information.
Pointe is an extended form of ballet.
A student must reach a certain age and level before they are ready for pointe based on a list of criteria determined by our instructors.
Students age 8 and younger should enroll according to our age guidelines and do not need to be evaluated for placement.
If you have previous dance experience, you need to attend the Fall placement class or contact the studio to arrange for a placement appointment.
Please call 847-342-1060.
After completing Ballet 2, two ballet classes per week are recommended.
It is common for students to repeat ballet levels and to remain in a level for several years within our program.
Repeating a level does not mean a student is held back or failed, it is simply the next level of progression.
Our dress code was established to promote the students' freedom of movement and the instructor's observation of correct technique.
Hair should be worn off the face and neck, in a bun if possible.
This enhances the dancer's vision and enables the instructor to observe proper alignment of neck and shoulders.
Discount Policy: Every student pays full price for their first, highest-priced class.
Discounts begin with the second class.
For each student, we offer a 10% discount for each additional class.
For families, we offer a family discount of 5% off the total tuition for all dancers, on top of the additional class discount.
