The DeMure Dance Studio, led by director Angela Demure and instructor Shaleena Bonnell, has been offering Latin and other social dance classes in the Twin Cities since 2012. DeMure Dance is about movement, music, fun and wellbeing. We enrich our students' lives with social dance skills that are practiced around the world.
DeMure Dance instructors take pride in creating a friendly, professional environment in which dancers of all levels can come together to enjoy social dances and music in a fun, motivating and energetic atmosphere! We believe that learning to dance is an investment in each student's personal happiness; and that all it takes is that first step. We fell in love with social dancing - and we know you will too!
DeMure Dance Studio also prepares couples and group choreographies, as well as directs two permanent performance teams - Minnesalsa and Minnesamba, that perform in locations around the Twin Cities year-round. Group dance classes are a great way to try out different styles of dance to see what you like.

Or been in a class where it's hard to advance because new beginners are always added, slowing down the pace?
With our award-winning, series-based format, featuring a standardized curriculum, there's no more guessing - and you WILL advance!
Once you reached the intermediate or advanced levels, you'll be able to continue with the monthly series format or purchase a class pass for 5-10 classes which you can use whenever fits best for your schedule.
If there is a 5th week in the month - we typically reserve that time for student practice time or social dance parties.*

Bachata, originating from the Dominican Republic, is a music and dance style with 4 beats per measure.
The basic step, is comprised of 3-steps in one direction and a pause on the 4th beat, which can be marked by a tap of the foot, or other styling choices.
And then you just repeat - back to the other side!
Since its introduction to the global dance scene in the early 1990s, Bachata has evolved dramatically in style and popularity.
Today, there are several distinct styles of Bachata, from "Traditional" and "Sensual, " to fusions with other dances like Angolan Kizomba & Brazilian Zouk.
