Founded in 1990 by our Artistic and Executive Director, Douglas Scott, the organization was originally known as Dance Force. The company began as a 'traditional' dance company in which all members were professional dancers without disabilities. In 1993, through a partnership with VSA arts of GA, Shepherd Center and Special Audiences, Douglas began teaching dance classes for persons with physical disabilities, changing the course of his career.

He was intrigued by the challenge of creating a modern dance technique that would be inclusive and challenging for all physical abilities, one that was firmly founded in art and not designed to be "therapeutic." Through hard work, trial and error, and mutual learning between him and his students, Douglas developed a distinct style and technique, now celebrated for its artistry and inclusiveness.

In 1995, Douglas was asked to create dances for the Arts Festival of Atlanta-commissioned production of "Visage En Face, " which was a collaboration with rock band Van Gogh.

What do our auditions look like?
The audition consists of taking class alongside Full Radius Dance's current company members plus small group movement creation - so we can experience how you work in a creative environment.
Dancers who possess an adventurous spirit are particularly suited for the work of Full Radius Dance.
Auditionees must be 18 years or older and must be a U.S. citizen or have a valid work visa.
Dancers without physical disabilities should have a professional level of modern dance technique.
Due to the pandemic, the livestream will go on!
This year, the Modern Atlanta Dance (MAD) Festival will be virtual event.
MAD presents some of the best dance from Georgia-based artists and companies each year.
Consistently amazing lineups of modern and contemporary dance wow audiences with a variety of choreographers, styles, and artistic visions in a single concert.
Join us as we present six dance films created and performed by the Artists of the 2021 MAD Festival.
Created by Douglas Scott in 1995 to showcase the diversity and excellence of Atlanta's dance scene, the festival one of the only professionally juried dance festival in the southeast.
This summer, the High debuted Outside the Lines, an immersive maze of accessible, sensory environments by award-winning design and research practice Bryony Roberts Studio, as its seventh site-specific installation on The Woodruff Arts Center's Carroll Slater Sifly Piazza.
The Outside the Lines installation and Full Radius Dance is a perfect match.
The curves of Outside the Lines mimic the curving steel structure of the wheels of the dancers' chairs.
The sculpture is highly tactile and dance is also - hands touching, bodies providing support for bodies - investigating intimacy of touch and its social construction.
Full Radius Dance offers one and a half-hour to three-hour dance classes that touch on the basics of physically integrated technique, including warm-up, center floor & traveling exercises, creation of choreography, and physically integrated partnering.
These can be geared to all age ranges and all levels of ability; from youth to seniors, from creative movers to professional dancers.
Masterclasses can be offered for single or multiple sessions.
Our annual summer intensive is an amazing opportunity for a deep dive into the Full Radius Dance technique, physically integrated choreography and teaching, and intensive partnering.
Join us as we dive into the rigor of the Full Radius Dance technique.
We discuss the intent of the movement, what muscle groups are used, and will readily demonstrate how it can be executed by different embodiments - seated on the floor, seated in a chair, or standing.
You may join us, virtually, as we take class live in the studio or, as an option, you can access the class as a prerecorded video.
The virtual class is auto-captioned.
An email with the link to access the live virtual class will be sent the day before the scheduled class.
