Our mission at Alexa's Dance Academy is to provide our students with a unique learning experience. We provide a list of instructors from a variety of dance training and backgrounds. Our goal is to bring out the best in our students and help them to become the dancer they want to be. We also look to provide a distinct experience for everyone. We offer a wide range of classes so that each dancer can find a class that suits them best.
We also advise that students try to step out of their comfort zone and learn a new and fresh style. At Alexa's Dance Academy, we pride ourselves on being current in the dance world. Our staff still attends dance classes regularly and visits conventions to stay on top of our professional game.

Services
Alexa Tonis is the director and founder of Alexa's Dance Academy.
She began her dance career at the age of two.
Her training was varied between her hometown studio, specialized performing arts high school and her college dance team.
In her hometown studio, Alexa trained in Ballet, Modern, Lyrical, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theater and Acrobatics.
She was on the competition team where she competed in over 40 competitions during her dance career.
The competition team also allowed Alexa to dance for various charities and benefits.

It is held at Holy Trinity in Hicksville, NY.
Participation in the recital is not mandatory.
However, we do suggest that your child participates because it is a great learning experience.
All students who are performing in our recital are required to purchase the appropriate costumes through ADA.
The costumes are ordered from various costume companies.
Please provide your child's costume size when submitting your recital participation form.

Acrobatics is the performance of extraordinary human feats of balance, agility, and motor coordination.
It includes a lot of the same characteristics of gymnastics.
The difference between gymnastics and acrobatics is that we don't use any of the equipment (bars and beam) we mostly do floor work.
This class will work on tumbling, handstands and flips (all based off the dancers level and ability) mixed with dance.

We start off our season with multiple levels of competition teams.
There will be a Pre Competition Team, Micro Mini Team, Mini Team, Junior 1 Team, Junior 2 Team and Senior Team.
You can participate in these teams in full, including all hours or you can take the limited hour addition.
This is called "limited competition team".
This is for any student at any age that would want to enter the competition world at a slower pace.
This option requires the student to take their mandatory classes of technique and ballet (hours vary depending on the team).
